J,

I definitely agree that it's better to have continuity problems in a subplot than in the main plot. If we see more closure on the Milo storyline at some point in the future, then the author's note I commented about becomes "extra" info (to continue the Lost comparison, it would be like the commentary on the dvds) and not as distracting.

Looking forward to seeing where you go and how you bring it all together.

First off, thanks for an insightful review. It sure helps putting my work in perspective.

"There also seems to be a tendency to drop storylines suddenly – we’re told in an author’s note at one point that the Milo subplot is now done, and what we were supposed to get from the subplot is explained to us in the text rather than revealed in the story itself; I admit that annoyed me a bit."

Just thought I'd clarify this -- I'm very well aware that the comic should speak for itself, and any info I gave on the Milo subplot in my comments will at some point be included in the comic itself (in fact, some technical background will be included in ep. 6's dialogue). My saying that the storyline is done (here: http://ad1997.com/index.php?strip_id=114) should not distract from that. If anything, my comment on that page was unclear.

Your criticism is justified, insofar as I am still struggling to integrate the older storyline into the newer one. But that process is not completed yet. Relevant information may be given at a later time, and not within the storyline itself. That's one of the drawbacks of drawing this comic's episodes out of order. Of course this was bound to create coherence problems, but my POV is that if I were to have continuity problems, I'd rather have them in a subplot than within the main storyline (which would have likely been the case if I'd started with the pilot episodes).
